Hello and welcome to the show. I'm making today's recording outside of the parking lot at Grand Square because I have some runs to do here before I run off one or two things, so expect to hear some interruptions in the background. This is the first time of listening to the podcast. This is not a show about my personal life and my shopping preferences. The goal of this show is free business education, so please share, promote and talk about the show so that your friends and family members in Nigeria and abroad can benefit from the questions that we tackle.
They can do that by subscribing on Spotify, YouTube, Apple or any player of their choice. And if you have any sales and marketing questions then bring them to me. You can call, you can SMS or WhatsApp on 08064662140. Now today on the show, I want to look at the list of unethical. I mean, should I say unethical? OK, Well, since I'm a sales coach, business consultant, people reach out to me all the time, whether on my radio show or over here on the podcast.
They want me to look at one or two businesses. And there are some businesses that I cannot look at. And then I can't help you with for ethical reasons. So I mean, you might not agree with, you might not think that I'll be ethical, you might not think that they're ethical or unethical, but anyway, they're just some business problems that I cannot help out with. And that's what we're going to look at today. That's some of the reasons why there's some businesses that I
don't talk about. I might joke about them from time to time, but I can't seriously tackle that business. You know, if you're reaching out to me and you want me to help you, whether it's a free session or whether it's a paid session, they're just some things that I can't do. So the reason why this has come up again is because on the radio show on radio Maria, you know, somebody called in some questions around IVF businesses and, you know, it's a bit iffy because it's a Catholic radio station.
So even if I didn't believe in teachings of the church, still will be somehow for me to tackle those kinds of questions on air. And then somebody reached out to me on LinkedIn. She's a bottom power entrepreneur, you know, in quote, we can put it that way. You know, there might be some young people listening to this show. So I can't say exactly what line of business it is that she's in. And to be honest, you know, whether you're a bottom power entrepreneur or whether you're in the IVF, you know, sure, all the principles that we're talking about over here can improve your businesses.
But The thing is, I am Catholic. And apart from being Catholic, there are actually some common sense reasons or natural law reasons why it's unethical to be involved in certain kinds of businesses. So I want to just make this episode where I put it out there that yes, I'm taking questions from everyone and yes, I'm trying to help as many people as possible, whether for free or whether it's paid. But there are some businesses that unfortunately I'm not going to be able to help you guys with.
So the lady who called Bottom Power, well, the reason why I can't do anything in Bottom Power Industries, I mean, those of you who've been listening to the podcast from the get, you know that the very first person who reached out to me for a coaching opportunity was someone who had medicine for erectile dysfunction. Yeah, yeah. Medicine for erectile dysfunction And I could have worked with the guy, but by the time I asked him a couple of questions about his ICP, you know, he was straight up he's like, Oh no, no, no, he's not married men like you that are my customers.
I'm like, oh really? How come? And he said because you married men have nothing to prove that I'm actually looking for young and single guys. Those ones feel as if they have something to prove. And those are the guys who drop major money to pay for my products. So. Yeah. So because of that, it's one of those things that I just weaved, you know, So if you're in the business of helping married men and married women, you know,
achieve, you know, happily ever after, sure, no problem. I hope you flog your product. But, you know, if your product is going to lead to some loose living, you know, unfortunately, I I can help you there. And the reason why is this is because there's certain things that we do that impinge or contravene or lessen the dignity of the human person. And The thing is, you know, women are not supposed to be used as playthings.
I mean, just let's just remove Christianity from me here. You know, everybody has worth as a human being by the very fact, you know, that they are human beings. Yeah, that's a philosophical proposition. We can talk about that later on. But because everybody has inherent rights and inherent dignity and things like that, you know, women are not our playthings. And so industries that kind of put women in that position, you know, I'm at a loss.
I can't get involved in those sorts of things on ethical grounds. So some of you say, why are you judging me? No, it's not a judgement about you. You might be a very fine person. You know, the bottom part entrepreneur or the guy who is trying to sell, you know, trying to flog Ed pills on guys so that they can prove a point, you know, in quotes, you know, so I'm not making a judgement about you. Let me not get to in the in the weeds on these also things.
So basically, if you're a bottom pie entrepreneur, I can't help you. But yes, I must admit, you know, this technique will work very well in that line of business. And then if you're like the guy who's trying to sell Ed pills, you know, I can help you as well. Then for the fellow who called and who wanted help on his IVF business, the reasons why I can't get involved on that is because they violate Catholic teaching. They also violate natural human reasoning.
It's, it's kind of complicated. And if any of you reach out to me one-on-one, I would love to discuss with you about it, you know, because the process involved in doing. And let me just put it this way, if you're curious and you want to know what the Catholic teaching is on the matter. And apart from that, it's not even Catholics. You know, there are some people like Muslims who oppose it and then even secular humanists who oppose it.
So, but if you want to know the philosophical reasons why some people oppose IVF, you know, just hit me up and we can have a conversation about that. So if you're in the IVF business, if you're a bottom power individual entrepreneur can help you on that. If you sell Ed pills, can I help you on that? Then let's see what else. Of course, abortion, if that's your business, can help you that apart from religious and philosophical considerations,
there are also legal considerations here because abortion is still illegal in Niger. So if I'm helping you to promote any, you know, an abortion business, you know, I'm going to be complicit in breaking some laws and I don't want to do that here. I'm trying to make some serious Mullah and I'm not trying to go to jail. And of course, you know, violations of dignity of the human person. Same thing with people who are in business around contraceptives.
I can't help those of you who are in the adult entertainment industry, you know, like I mentioned my uncle in law where I can put it like that, you know, came to town and was surprised that in Abuja we have one or two, you know, we have these places here and there. You know, he thought was only in America that they have those places. But lo and behold, you know, they're here. At least I can confirm that in Abuja, there are plenty in Lagos, I forget Lagos all over the place.
I mean, even when I lived on Amina Crescent on Allen Ave. I know at least two or three of those places, not I didn't go there. I just know that they're around the corner because at night the signboards, you know, come up. So I didn't go there, but at least I I know where they are. Funny enough, I ever heard that one of them was owned by somebody in my church. Shocking. Then joined gambling and addictive businesses can help you with that.
The reason why, from a traditional Christian and a traditional Islamic point of view, people stay away from those sorts of things is because those are things that impair reason and also value the dignity of the human person. So gambling and addictive stuff, basically you just lose your mind over a whole bunch of stuff. And then for men who have gotten involved in this madness, you know, I've seen some of it in my own family because you know,
from Benway State, I spent some time in Aberdeen, Scotland and in Aberdeen they have a serious gambling problem and drinking problem. And in Benway State this is serious drinking problem and gambling problem. So there are lots of people's families. I just get get messed up over all these things. So it impairs reason. So fathers were supposed to provide for their families, you know, don't or cannot because they've gambled everything away,
because they've drunk and snuffed and sniffed and injected the hell out of their lives. And, yeah, so you're involved in those kinds of businesses. You know, unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to help you with that. Then let's see what else? Hey, human trafficking. Now some of you say human trafficking care. I'm not a human trafficker. Calm down. There's no human trafficking in Nigeria. And you know, it depends on how you define it.
So if you talk to people in the police, if you talk to people, let's say, like in the British Council, if you talk the the people in the modern coalition against slavery, if you talk to some people in Christian and Muslim communities, they will say these practices where you go to Benin Republic and then you carry girls and then bring them to Nigeria and then you start using them to do house boy and house girl. You say you have agency.
Well, you know, it's questionable. Some people argue that those sorts of businesses actually that is a human trafficking, you know, and so for some of those reasons, you know, I stay away from businesses like that. So if you have an agency in court where you're carrying girls from court to know to come and do house girl here can help you with that. And then of course, businesses that are involved with, OK, I've already mentioned the drugs,
alcohol, OK, alcohol, alcohol, no problem. I drinks of. But drugs, yeah, because they impair human reason reasoning then OK, that's also another, these are also reasons why I stay away from the paraphernalia business. So some of you call and you're not a bottom power entrepreneur, but you say one or two things that help with bottom power. You know, I hope you guys understand when I say bottom power because, you know, I don't want the young people listening to the podcast to understand what we're talking about.
But for those of us who are older, those of you who are old and those of you who understand, you actually you need Jesus. If you understand what I'm talking about, you need Jesus. Go and repent. So yeah, that's those are some of the reasons why I can't get involved in some of those businesses. So remember, it's not a personal judgement and I would love to have personal conversations with anybody who reaches out just to explore some of the philosophical reasons why someone, some people might consider these businesses to be unethical.
Because at the end of the day, you will find that you find a coalition around these things because, you know, Christians see the world differently. Muslims see the world differently. Secular humanists see the world differently. Especially atheist secular humanists, they don't even believe that there is a God. So don't you guys think it's kind of interesting that sometimes the Christian, the Muslim, the secular humanist and the pantheist, all of them agree that something is wrong or something is right.
Should be interesting give you some philosophical I'll put it ground some philosophical rationale, some reason to believe that perhaps there are some things that are just wrong and are wrong in every single circumstance and there's some things that are right in some circumstances and wrong in some circumstances. But you know in this age where people just think look, I'm just trying to make my own money I'm trying to sort myself out I'm just trying to do me you do you you know perhaps we can make that cheddar we can be millionaires we can be billionaires.
You know, we can be trillionaires, we can make that cool money. But what's the question that we we should have? You know, is every single way of making money good? Is every single way of making money productive? Is every single way of doing money legal, illegal? Because, you know, there's a time when in Niger people are making mad money by this kidnapping thing, you know, collaborate with someone, go and kidnap somebody, you know, shop,
shop before, you know, a million situ accounts, you know, overnight. You don't blow. You know, Bob, Anyway, I think I've spoken too much. Let me just leave it there. Anyone wants to have a conversation around these sorts of things? Yeah, we can have a chat about it one-on-one. But bottom line, I'm just trying to say that there are some people who are going to call over the radio. I can't help you. There are some people who are going to send me DMS, like the bottom power individual and the guy who says Ed drugs.
You know, I can't help you. So that's it. Those are some of the businesses that I'm not going to get involved in. So if you do anything else, get in touch. If you have a plant nursery, you sell Arabic palm trees or you sell Saint Augustine pine trees or stuff like that because I see them all over Abuja. You know, reach out if you own a shopping mall, you know, reach out. If you sell pool tables, reach out. If you own one of these football rinks, basketball courts, you know, stuff like that, reach out.
You're into crypto or whatever, reach out and let's have that conversation. So that's all for today pretty much. So thank you very much for listening. If you have sales and marketing questions, bring them to me. Call SMS and WhatsApp me on 08064662140. Thank you very much for your time and attention. I'll catch you, dear listener, at the next episode.
