Today's podcast is going to be a very brief 1, and I'm going to be talking about the importance of putting things in practice. And also I'm going to repeat something I've been saying a lot on the podcast about how the reason why you're stalling in your business is not because you don't have any ideas, but it's because you're not executing on the good ideas that you already have, all the good ideas that are within reach.
Hello and welcome. My name is Tavishima Aide, I'm the host of the podcast making today's recording at home. So there will be noise in the background. Now over here we tried to solve business problems. And if you're trying to move your business forward, then this is the podcast for you. So subscribe Spotify, YouTube, Apple, or any player of your choice. And if you'd love to connect, you can call, send me a text message or WhatsApp message on 08064662140.
Now recently I was chatting with a guy. He described himself as a painter, as in, you know, when people reach out, you know, we just general shooting issue, just general chatting. So he described himself as a painter and as a Tyler and as a graphics designer and as a motion graphics designer and as a printer and as an interior and exterior decorator and event sets designer, scenery designer, you know, just plenty, plenty,
plenty. But basically this guy, let me not review his name and protect his privacy or basically this guy started off and because of family connects, you know, stuff that Pops used to do. That's how the guy just aligned as he entered this world of everything to do with paint. Unlike most of us that are creative, you can see that this guy is up to a lot. So the guy gets skill, the guy get talent and he has learnt everything.
Let me repeat, he's a painter. As for a painting building, the guy can do tying as in tyres in your house. Graphics design, the guy for dorm motion graphics, the guy the dorm printing, the guy the dorm. Interior design, he can do it. Exterior decorator, the guy has done the work. Event sets, the guy has done it. Designing scenery, the guy has done it. So that's a lot. Now, some of you know or remember that I've been saying a lot on the podcast that part of making your job easy in sales or easier when it comes to selling something is to decide exactly what it is that you want to do.
So typically what I would advise people to do is narrow down because this is wide. I repeat painter for the house, Tyler for the house, graphics design, motion graphics design, printing, exterior, interior and exterior decoration, event decoration, scenery design. So normally what I've told a guy like this guy, you guys focus is too much as a withdrawal you sell. So I decided to go 1 route because I thought about it. OK, all of them are plenty, but is it possible that if we try and figure out what the commonality is, we might be able to find two or three Icps?
The ICP is the ideal customer profile or the target audience or the customer avatar. So I just forgot. Is it possible that if we take this thing, run them through char GPT or some AI tool, we can find some commonalities and narrow it down to two or three personas that this guy can chase because we have multiple skills like this would be a whole lot easier to go and chase after one or two personas. And they're based on the discussion, how the discussion of flow, You now know which service to chook, which service to promote.
You understand, you get what I'm saying. So what you can do, if you're like this guy, I think that what do they call themselves? They call that multiple. I can't remember what they call. They call that multiple, something people that have, you know, multiple talents, multiple skills. So the approach can be either pick one or look at all these things you can do, see if you can narrow it down to two or three personas and then find ways to start conversations with these personas.
And then eventually you can get into need analysis. And then you'll be able to sell the particular service at the at the time. So to test this guy like I do most of you, I just sent the guy an assignment. I just said put all these things in ChatGPT and ask it who your ICP is. That's all I said. I didn't explain to the guy what is ICPI didn't say anything. I just sent it. The guy said, OK, Sir, thank you very much Sir.
I will do it and I will revert. By the way, stop saying that. You know, you who say our revert and that's too, it's too official. You know when you're chatting with someone, you know, keep it cool, keep it casual, especially if you're talking to clients. Don't say our revert. You know, when you're with your clients, keep it cool and casual, especially if you're on the SME level. We're trying to build relationships here.
So no formal language, or rather no excessively formal language. So you guys say you revert like 2 minutes later I sent another message said working on it already. After that he sent another message saying I intend to go prospecting tomorrow. So I was like, wow, that's quite a job when we have read it. So today now I sent the guy a message. I said, So what was the result of your, of your prompt? The guy responded very, very happily.
He said good afternoon Sir. He said that sincerely. He has been listening to my podcast and he's been learning a lot. Then he now said the result was awesome and he said that he kept exploring ideas on how to approach establishments and he has contacted the hotel. He's going to the hotel tomorrow to go and see the owner of the hotel. Summary. What happened is this. The guy took that prompt threatening to ChatGPT. Some things came out.
He decided to treat ChatGPT like a conversational tool like I advise you guys to. And he continued leaning in, asking more questions, asking more questions, you know, like if you say what is my ICP and then, you know, char GBT gives you whatever I say. Oh, I don't understand, please explain ICP and you just treat like a conversational tool. So from chatting with this thing back and forth, he was able to get some good outreach ideas.
Now, because he's excited and he's rushing off in the field, You know, I'll find out later exactly what was the prompt, what was the result. But basically in treating this thing like a conversational tool, he was able to come up with some ideas about possible, about possible prospects, possible contacts that he could be having conversations with. And he even came up with an outreach plan that he's going to go and execute on.
And it involves hotels. And to be honest, if you had asked me to say what is the commonality, if you have skills of painter, tiler, graphics design, motion graphics, printer, interior and exterior decorator, events design and scenery design, To be honest, if you had asked me even in one month, I would never have thought of a hotel. But actually it does make sense. Hotels need painters because you need to paint the interior and the exterior of a hotel.
Hotels need tilers because you need tiles, you know, tiles in the bathroom, that sort of thing. Hotels also need graphic designers because whether it's Hilton Hotel or or Sheraton hotel on their social media, you know, they do graphic stuff and putting our Flyers and stuff like that. Hotels also need motion graphics designers. Hotels also need printers, interior decorators, events, set designers, you know, and to be honest, it's one of the reasons why I say we should use these tools because if you had asked me by myself, I said I never would have thought of hotels.
So what he's going to go and say when he meets the owner of the hotel, I have absolutely no idea. But The thing is, I like this guy's vein. I like the guys also, I give him one question. All those things I said, put it all in ChatGPT and ask ChatGPT who your ICP is. I asked him one question from one question and from chatting with this thing, from using it in a very conversational style, not only did he come up with an ICP with a possible target audience, he also came up with ideas for outreach.
And The thing is, he's running ahead to go and execute on this thing. This guy is a dua. And to be honest, that's the reason why for some of you, after we talk, I say no, you're going to go far because there's some of you that just catch any small thing and you run with it. Now, even if you're absolutely hopeless, let's face it, nobody's going to be useless 100% of the time. So if you're one of these people who pick something and then you run with it, eventually one day you will land on the one that will click.
And this is how we can tell who is going to be successful and who is not going to be. This guy just picked and he ran. Some of you will run the search. Oh, that seems interesting. And then you do nothing. And then another search, and you do nothing. And you listen to a podcast, then you do nothing. Then you read A blog, then you do nothing. Then you watch a YouTube video, then you do nothing. Before you know it, three months have passed.
You're acquiring knowledge, and you're doing nothing. Meanwhile, other people once more spark. They don't begin to roar. Sharp, sharp, sharp. So anyway, I was glad I told him. I'm very glad to hear that later on, when I'm free, I'll continue to chat. Like, how far? What exactly is that, GPTC? What part of the plan excited you like this so much? And the conversation with the hotel owner, how did it go? But whether the thing went well or not, to be honest, this guy's going to go far.
Pops introduced him to painting. He lent all these other things from my podcast. He heard about AI tools. I gave him one small assignment. He is just running with it then. Plus, he's a young dude. As he continues to run and run and run like this. This is how his classmates will see him in future. On the black hair, is it not so, so, so, so, this is how it starts. So please, brothers and sisters listening to this podcast, I beg especially those of you who are waiting for the right idea, for the perfect idea, stop waiting for this perfect idea.
The idea is not a problem. Execution is the problem. The people that are passing us by is because they are doing is because they're executing. It's because they move. OK, this one seems workable. What can I do to mitigate risk? OK, it seems workable and then you're wrong with it. So please stop waiting for perfect ideas and stop listening to podcasts endlessly. Stop blending things endlessly. Some of you have been learning about ChatGPT, Google, Gemini.
So you've been learning, learning, learning, learning, learning. You know, from January to now, this is September, you've still been learning. What have you done with it? Nothing. OK, You've been using the ideas that you generated. Which one did you execute on? Nothing. If we check your phone, it's just one brilliant idea after another brilliant idea after another brilliant idea. Please, brothers and sisters, let us be doing.
You know, I'm not saying we should be as enthusiastic as this guy because to be honest, man, this guy is enthusiastic. You know, some people say there's one people I was toasting when I was in uni. She didn't agree for me, I said, what's the problem? She said I believe that life is a Disney movie. I say how what do you mean by that? She said for me, I'm, you know that I look at life through colored lenses. That is as if I believe things always work out well and everything.
I was shocked. I say, never mind. I'm thinking how's I problem if a guy thinks that life is a Disney movie, does that not mean that he's a good candidate anyway? But on what I'm just trying to say is even for somebody like me who thinks life is a Disney movie, to be honest, I'm not as enthusiastic as this guy that we were chatting 2:00 in the afternoon, 24 hours later when I say oh boy, how far the guy is ready in the field executing.
So to be honest, me, I'm not that enthusiastic. But anyway, sure, that's it. Execution is what's going to set you apart from other people. Then summary, just to repeat what I started off, the part has episode with, which is if you're one of these people, what do they call them again, multiple something, not multiple entrepreneurs. There's a name that they call themselves is a multiple empathor. Be multiple, multiple something.
Sure, if you're one of these people because of these AI tools, now you have another option because traditionally it would be in a matter of decide what are you going to do? Are you going to do painting, tiling, graphics design, set design like pick one and pursue. But with these tools now where we can come up with loads of options, we actually can look at all these multiple skill sets that we have and to try and see if we can find one or two personas that we can run after.
It's a way of simplifying things. So instead of simplifying your skill set, we simplify the personas and it gives us an easy set of targets to chase. The whole point we're simplifying is just this. We're human beings, we're limited, so we can't run after five options at the same time. You know, there's a Yoruba proverb who says that if you chase 5 rabbits you won't catch anyone, which makes a lot of sense actually. Sorry.
Chickens. Yeah, I think it's chickens. So that's your rope over. They say if you're chasing 5 chickens, you won't catch anyone. So that's the whole idea. So you have to narrow down the skill sets or the services that you're going to provide, or you narrow down on the personas that you're going to be running after. So that's an option that's available. And yeah, that's it. That's all for the podcast today. Wishing this chap well.
For those of you who are listening to the podcast and who get value from it and who who really love it, if you're in this guy's situation, the only thing you can do to pay me back, especially since you're not giving me any money, is to tell other people about the show. The show is cool, the show is nice. I learned this, I did this, this was the result. I think you should listen to this too. But of course, let them know as you are listening, be applying.
That is where the chief benefit comes from, especially me. I am concerned about results. I really, really like it when you guys reach out and say I listened, I disagree with this, and then we have a conversation, or I listened, it seemed like a good idea, I tried it, the thing failed, and then we have a conversation. I tried it, the thing worked, and then we have a conversation. But either way, we're having very constructive conversations.
Oh, and by the way, so another thing I've said on the podcast that another reason why this approach is, is good is because for someone like him that actually has tried his hand on all these things and he had my suggestions, he went to go and try it. If he decides to go and meet a business consultant tomorrow, whether it's me or somebody else, they're going to have a very, very constructive conversation because there's something that they can start with.
He can say, these are the things I learned from POPC, These are the things I learnt in the field. This is how I tried to move this business. This is how I tried to move this business. I tried this form of outreach. I tried this form of outreach. This is what worked. This is not this one didn't work. Then they cannot have a productive conversation now. OK, you made an error here. Optimize this, improve this, be very, very constructive conversation.
Unlike people who say I could do this, I could do this, I'm thinking of this, I'm thinking of that, you know, those kinds of questions, you know, too broad. Anything can be an approach. And anyway, let me just stop there, Sha. You guys just join me and pray for this young man that the hustle will will pay at the end of the day. And May God make all our hustles pay. So that is all for today. So that's it and that's all.
Remember, if you'd love to connect, you can call, send me a text message or a WhatsApp message on 08064662140. Thank you very much for your time and attention. I'll catch you next time. Same place in your headphones or in your speakers. And just to warn you that if you do get in touch like this young man did, not going to say his name to protect his privacy, if you do get in touch, I will be giving you an assignment because to be honest, that is how I
separate the wheat from the shaft. Because there's some people that give them a small assignment. They disappear. You never hear from them again. And I'm like, OK, good. So I don't need to waste my time. I can pay attention to the clients, you know, who pay me money and who make this podcast possible. So yeah, you reach out. I will be giving you an assignment. Whether you do the assignment or not is up to you. And of course, if you do the assignment, that is what determines, you know, the level of conversations that we're going to be having in the future.
So let me wrap it up here. I have to be off anyway so I'll catch you guys.
